Iskra Lawrence is known to many of us as a real paragon of body positivity.
She’s got curves. She’s got style. She’s unashamedly body confident.
And she’s not here for being called plus-size in headlines.
Like many celebs, Iskra was recently papped on the beach in Miami in a navy bikini.
She was fine with that… except when the Irish Independent then published an article including the photos with the headline: ‘Plus-size model Iskra Lawrence is the picture of body confidence as she hits the beach in Miami’.
‘British model Iskra Lawrence (27) is fast becoming a bastion of body confidence – she isn’t covering up her curves in kimonos and swimsuits, she’s hitting Miami beach in a killer two-piece and owning it,’ they wrote.
The article was entirely positive but failed to take into account that Iskra doesn’t want to be labelled ‘plus size’.
And she corrected the publication on Twitter.

‘*model* Iskra Lawrence is the picture of body confidence as she hits the beach in Miami,’ she wrote, showing how she actually wants to be referred to.
And her followers were all over the correction:

The Independent still hasn’t changed their headline, however.
Surely if you’re trying to champion body positivity, you should try to talk about people the way they actually identify – especially if they’ve actually asked for a correction.
