The majority of American women — an estimated 67 percent — wear a size 14 or larger. But strangely, that hasn't meant that they are a demographic frequently catered to by the fashion industry. Though size diversity on the runway is getting better, it doesn't necessarily mean that women who don't wear straight sizing have an easy time finding clothing that fits them; at high-end retailers, it's especially difficult.

11 Honoré aims to change that. A new e-commerce destination set to launch later this month, 11 Honoré will feature seen-on-the-runway designs from established names like Prabal Gurung, Brandon Maxwell, Christian Siriano, Marchesa, Tome, Zac Posen, Michael Kors Collection, Monique Lhuillier and more in sizes 10-20. In addition to featuring plus-size versions of runway offerings, the site will also feature exclusive capsules and collaborations.

Started by Patrick Herning, who has a background in luxury and tech at firms like HL Group, along with Kathryn Retzer, a former American Vogue editor, 11 Honoré presents an idea that's so obviously savvy that it's hard to believe it didn't already exist. It was the duo's ability to recruit such notable brands (and well-loved plus-size model Candice Huffine) that set their venture apart from similar endeavors. That also helped them catch the eye of investor Kirsten Green, who has backed Glossier and Warby Parker in the past, according to Business of Fashion.

Besides providing a place for women who wear sizes 10 and above to shop designer goods, 11 Honoré also hopes to create a platform that can foster genuine community both with one another and with the fashion world.

"11 Honoré will honor and involve its customer in a way that ensures she is heard, reflected and able to access items that are at the forefront of what is happening with fashion and trends," claimed the retailer in a release. And really, isn't that what any shopper — regardless of size — wants?
