Kutztown University Professor Revokes Extra Credit Offer To Attend Anti GOP Tax Rally

A Kutztown University professor initially offered extra credit to students if they attend an on-campus rally Thursday against the GOP tax bill.

The professor has since retracted her extra credit amid concerns that were raised on Twitter, Kutztown spokesperson Matt Santos said.

Kutztown’s faculty union has scheduled an on-campus rally Thursday against the tax bill. The rally comes as the House version of the GOP tax reform bill includes a provision that graduate students who receive waived tuition would have to pay taxes on it as though it were income.

The professor, Mauricia John of the anthropology and sociology department, had no intention of swaying students’ political opinion, Santos said.
