Know How To Get Perfect Plus Size Swimwear

For the first time ever in the Philippines, YouTube has offered vloggers an opportunity to grow and network as content creators. YouTube NextUp is a program that provides budding YoutTube creators from all over the country with workshops and events that can help boost their online visbility and technical production skills.

From a pool of thousands, YouTube handpicked 12 outstanding young vloggers to participate in a creators camp that will teach them the ins and outs of managing their channel. We recently had the chance to sit down and chat with three of the finalists, specifically beauty vloggers Raiza Contawi, Helen Payawal, and Mae Layug. Read on to see their personal thoughts on vlogging, beauty, and more!

Raiza Contawi

Raiza is a professional makeup artist and fulltime YouTube content creator who fills her blog with videos ranging from beauty tutorials to product reviews. She shares that her rise to fame was somewhat an accident when she first submitted videos online as part of a competition she took part of.

Her Beauty Philosophy:

“Beauty is limitless. There are no boundaries and limits to what you can do. You can experiment with makeup as much as you want. As long as you’re happy with what you’re doing, just do it.”

Go-To Look:

“During the day, I prefer to keep it light and pinkish. As much as possible, I don't put on foundation, just made up brows, some blush, and lipstick. I like the gradient lip look because it can make you look fresh and youthful.”

Top 5 Essentials:

“Sheet mask is greater than life! I’d say sheet masks, moisturizer, sunblock, eyebrow product, and lipstick.”

Helen Payawal

Helen is a makeup artist who started creating video tutorials for her friends and co-workers who frequently go to her for makeup tips. She focuses on providing her audience with beauty-related content but keeps it light and funny by adding comedic skits on the side.

Her Beauty Philosophy:

“Never apologize for your features. Be proud of what you have. Like for me, plus size ako and hindi ako magsosorry na ganito itsura ko because I love my curves.”

Go To Look:

“I’m all for the drama. Sobrang fan ako ng lashes. Naglalagay talaga ako ng lashes during the day, and then blush, highlight, and nose contour.”

Top 5 Essentials:

“Skin care is important so first on my list is toner, then moisturizer, eyebrow pencil, lip and cheek tint, and concealer.”

Mae Layug

Mae creates video tutorials and makeup challenges using affordable products that are perfect for students and people on a budget. She currently works as a cardiovascular nurse and uses YouTube as an outlet for her to release stress and express her creative passion.

Her Beauty Philosophy:

“Always choose to see the beauty in everything. Kasi karaniwang sinasabi yung “ang ganda mo, kaya lang…” or “ang ganda mo, pero…”. We should stop doing that. Don’t spread negativity.”

Go To Look:

“I like to keep it simple. Parang yung “I woke up like this” fresh look lang. I don’t wear eyeshadow everyday. I usually go for the drunk blush look with cheek and lip tint.”

Top 5 Essentials:

“Eyebrow pencil, beauty cushion, cheek and lip tint, mattifying powder, and nude lipstick because nude is the new sexy.”

Despite being makeup enthusiasts, these girls believe that it is more important to invest in skincare. Make sure to go on makeup-free days and spend that time focusing on keeping your skin healthy instead of relying on makeup to cover up blemishes.

They also shared that the secret to a successful YouTube channel is to stay authentic and just be yourself. Don’t hold back from showing your creativity and passion just because you’re afraid no one might watch. Just go for it! Then when you do start your own channel, don’t worry too much about buying expensive equipment and focus instead on the quality of your content. Keep in mind that what matters most is you’re having fun with it and everything else will follow.

These three rising YouTube stars are obviously on the right track, and we can't wait to see more of them! Are you an aspiring vlogger? Share your thoughts and experiences with us below!
