Ashley Graham Calls Out Victoria’s Secret For Not Using Plus Size Models

Top plus-size model Ashley Graham has taken a shot at Victoria's Secret for the lack of curvy models in their runway shows - and social media loved it.

In a post clearly directed at the lingerie brand and their annual fashion show, Graham made her point by Instagramming a picture of herself walking down a runway in lingerie and wings - similar to those worn by the Victoria’s Secret Angels - with the caption, “Got my wings!” and “#thickthighssavelives”

The Victoria’s Secret Annual Fashion Show is a yearly televised program the lingerie giant uses to promote and flaunt its upcoming season of lingerie - and the models deemed lucky enough to wear it are typically thin.

Notorious for casting only the slimmest and fittest models, the VS Fashion Show often comes under fire for its disregard of other body types. But with growing pressure from high profile models like Ashley Graham, it may be time for Victoria’s Secret to rethink its casting choices.

As a strong proponent and role-model for women of all sizes, Graham’s post has received an outpouring of support on Twitter and Instagram.

Instagram commenter bentub17 said, "Nothing makes you feel like you're fat and hideous like watching the VS show. Ashley is amazing for speaking up for women of all sizes."

Michellemybelle_ commented, "Ugh you are such an inspiration! @theashleygraham so so stunning! Thank you for being the voice of all plus size women. We love and appreciate you more than you know! #victoriassecretmodelshavenothingonthesecurves #realisticbodyimage

.@theashleygraham I'm with you about the #Victoriasecret show. There has to be diversity in size. Thin supermodels are not the only one who wear and like pretty lingerie. Thanks for being that voice that calls them out on.

Plus-size model Tabria Majors also went viral last week when she uploaded a side-by-side photo of her and a Victoria’s Secret model wearing the same lingerie. She captioned the photo, “Maybe I’ll be a Victoria’s Secret Angel this year for Halloween, since it ain’t happening in real life lol” and “Just paying homage to a few of my favorite pics/outfits from (Victoria's Secret) here and showing that curvy girls can rock (and sell) lingerie just as well as straight size models."
