The temperature is heating up, which means it is finally time to head to the store (or the e-store) and snag some swimwear. On Thursday, we went over the best bathing suits for bigger cup sizes that don’t just look like maternity bras; today, we bring you all the greatest
plus size swimsuits for this season! And by “greatest,” I mean “bathing suits that do not resemble spandex tents,” because that seems to be the definition of lots of major brands’ plus size options. After all, we all deserve to feel good in a bathing suit–and not just in that patronizing “this flatters your body, i.e. makes you look thinner” way.
Side note: when I was in high school, I was so self-conscious of my body that I literally wore a maternity bathing suit in the pool. It was long, wide and concealed my body, which I assumed was appropriate because I lacked the proper amount of thigh gap and was extremely pale. While both those aspects of my body are still accurate, I had the revelation 4 or 5 years ago that, hey, I should be able to wear whatever bathing suit style I want. It sounds cliche, but considering we still live in an age where plus size women are forced to take photos of themselves down while similar ones from thin women literally build careers, I figure it can be stated at least a few more times. Cool? Cool.
Now, let’s get started on finding bathing suits that fit plus size women and do not totally suck, shall we?
1. Kenya Bikini Set, Robyn Lawley for Madison Plus Select ($166)
Think you can’t go strapless? Think again! This stunning suit comes from model Robyn Lawley’s line for Madison Plus Select that we covered last year, and that’s not the only fantastic thing about it. Additionally, it solves the age old “my top and bottom are two different sizes” dilemma by allowing you to choose your top (which come in sizes 0X – 3X, or a size 22/24) and bottom (0X – 3X) separately. Brilliant, right? And yet, why haven’t all stores started doing it, then…
I’m a total sucker for florals, so I fell in love with this one, the top of which goes up to a US size 24.
This color scheme is to die for, as is the fact that the top has underwire so you won’t feel unsupported the entire time you’re running around on the beach.
4. Paradise Cove Bikini Set, Forever21 ($27.80)
To be honest, I didn’t think Forever21 would have the most diverse plus size swimwear section, but they actually had quite a few worth including in this piece! I absolutely love how fun this print is.
5. Kenneth Cole Reaction Ruffle Bikini, Macy’s (top: $52.70, bottom: $42)
I love ruffles, and I can see this top looking great underneath a sheer coverup or a lacy dress while lounging at a beach party.
6. Reflective Palm Print Plunge One-Piece, ASOS Curve ($60.97)
This suit goes up to a size 24 and shows off your body with a fun, 80s-reminiscent print.
7. Burgundy One-Piece, H&M ($40)
I am obsessed with this color. If you wanted to look like a full-on pinup, you could just lay outside wearing sunglasses that match this as well as a burgundy lip stain. Sexy City.
8. She Said One-Piece Suit, Robyn Lawley for Madison Plus Select ($189)
This has a gorgeous shape, as well as a color that would flatter all skin tones.
9. Strappy Swim Tank With Built-In Balconette Bra, Lane Bryant ($65)
Everybody deserves the opportunity to have absurd tan lines! Plus, this suit goes up to a 44DDD, so that’s fantastic.
This is a tad risque without being over-the-top for a pool party or day at the beach, whether it’s with friends, family or a date.
I love the gold accents here.
12. Blue Wahoo Bikini Set, Simply Be ($60)
This lovely bikini goes from a size 8 to a 28, so high five to Simply Be for actually having options.

13. Graphic Print Swimsuit, ASOS Curve ($66.69)
This reminds me of a
Ke$ha video, in all seriousness. That is why I love it.
14. Becca ETC Aztec Print Flounce Bikini, Macy’s ($88)
If you’re feeing extra fun at an outdoor concert, you can wear this top with a pair of jeans or high waisted-shorts.
15. Columbia Crisscross Strap Swimsuit, Monif C ($175)
Again, tan lines will be an issue, but who cares? You’ll look super hot regardless, and it goes up to a 24W.
16. Multicolor Peek-A-Boo One-Piece, Torrid ($78.50)
For those of you who enjoy one-pieces but like to have a cute little cutout, this is a great option.
If black and white is your thing, so is this bathing suit.
18. Transmarine Dreams One-Piece Swimsuit, ModCloth ($124)
How cute is this nautical one-piece?
19. Beach To Beach Leopard Print Bikini Set, Simply Be ($40)
At just $40, this is a great option for those on a budget–and it goes from a size 8 to a size 28. Another gold star, Simply Be.
20. Badgley Mischka Ombré Shirred Maillot Swimsuit, Nordstrom ($128)
An ombre designer swimsuit that goes up to a 24W? Yes, please.
For the eternal Lisa Frank lover in you.
22. Beach To Beach Sporty Swimsuit, Simply Be ($35)
Simple, pretty and sporty–perfect for women who love to run around on the beach and not worry about anything falling out or coming undone.
23. Bathing Beauty One-Piece Swimsuit in Rainbow Galaxy, ModCloth ($90)
This gorgeous galaxy bathing suit comes in sizes 16 to 26, and it’s positively out of this world. (Unlike my puns, which are awful.)
24. Cherry Print Bandeau Set, Simply Be ($55)
This fruity print is absurdly cute.
This sexy swimsuit comes in multiple colors and it’s pretty inexpensive, so why not get a few and vary up your beach-ready wardrobe?
